ISKME - Turning Knowledge Into Action

The Institute for the Study of Knowledge Management in Education (ISKME)
is an independent, nonprofit research institute that helps schools, colleges, universities, and the organizations that support them expand their capacity to collect and share information, apply it to well-defined problems, and create human-centered, knowledge-driven environments focused on learning and success.

ISKME achieves this goal by conducting social science research and evaluation, developing and sharing innovation, and facilitating knowledge sharing and field building:

  • Conducts research and evaluation in information sharing and knowledge sharing in the education sector
  • Creating and supporting innovations in education research, policy, and practice
  • Providing field-building activities, conferences and workshops in knowledge collaboration and innovation
In examining and assisting K-12 and higher education, ISKME also helps philanthropic organizations and government agencies examine and improve their own and their grantees’ processes for continuous improvement, evaluation, and learning.

ISKME Big Ideas Fest 2009

Big Ideas Fest™ 2009 is the first-ever conference that will bring together education innovators and thought leaders for the purpose of creating, inspiring and spreading innovation.

Widespread economic challenges mean that schools, educators, and the systems that support them need now more than ever to concentrate limited resources on creative solutions. The Institute for the Study of Knowledge Management in Education, (ISKME), a global leader in knowledge sharing practices in education, is convening the Big Ideas Fest 2009 as a means to equip and recharge participants with tools and knowledge about innovative practices in education.

This invitation-only inaugural event will bring together 300 education stakeholders, from students to trustees to K-20 researchers and policy-makers, on December 6-9, 2009, in Half Moon Bay, California to showcase new forms for sharing and engaging knowledge that are transforming how, where and by whom learning takes place. The conference will engage the participants in experiential learning opportunities that cut across traditional stakeholder silos as a way to explore the common threads that weave through these ideas, and the unexpected juxtapositions that birth new ways of learning and doing.

Stay tuned for more information about Big Ideas Fest, as we make announcements about the program and line-up of presentations and speakers.
