The Institute for the Study of Knowledge Management in Education, an independent, nonprofit research institute located in Half Moon Bay, CA, seeks a full-time web-oriented graphic designer. This position requires local residence in the San Francisco Bay Area, though partial telecommuting will be considered.
Requirements:
-Experience designing for the web
-Online portfolio is required, including examples of sites designed for Drupal
-Strong understanding of user centered design, proven competence in user experience design and wireframing
-Advanced knowledge of HTML/CSS
-Expertise in typography and branding for web and print
-Applicants must be adept with the Adobe Creative suite, and comfortable designing graphics and communications for integrated use in print, on the web, and in social media
-Experience working in teams
-A passion for creating compelling information visualizations
Other skills we consider valuable:
-Experience with education tech or learning environments, strong interest in education
-Marketing or content strategy experience
-Strong base knowledge of usability and accessibility principles
Key responsibilities include the following:
-Develop and manage a cohesive brand aesthetic strategy for tying ISKME sites and services together
-Produce developer-ready well-labelled high-fidelity wireframe mockups for ISKME sites
-Develop infographics for web presentations and reports
-Create promotional graphics for events
-Proven ability to plan and execute resourcefully, with minimal supervision, and to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
-Flexibility and comfort with shifting design requirements and an iterative design environment that involves working with rapidly evolving prototypes.
