SF Bay Area – Sr. Research Associate – Leadership Team

The full-time Senior Research Associate will serve as an integral part of ISKME’s dynamic research team, and contribute to the conceptualization, design, and implementation of ISKME’s research projects. The Senior Research Associate will also serve in a leadership capacity to help grow and shape ISKME’s research agenda, priorities, and funding opportunities. 
 
The desired candidate has research interests in how information sharing and collaboration can facilitate continuous learning and change in educational settings (from research to practice, to policy). A strong interest in open source and open content, Web-based technologies, and implementation of learning systems is also desired. 
 
The candidate has a minimum of 3 years’ experience leading large-scale academic research projects, and has the skills necessary to hit the ground running in highly innovative, complex research environments. Key responsibilities include: 

  • Design, implement and lead qualitative and quantitative social science research projects having to do with  the creation of content, tools, and strategies for higher education and K-12 contexts
  • Conceptualize and shepherd written research reports; when needed, offer new, added-value ways to present research findings to funders, the public, and other stakeholders
  • Pursue funding opportunities and lead grant writing in emerging research areas and for new research projects; contribute to grant writing projects lead by cross-discipline ISKME teams
  • Mentor and provide feedback to research team members on key aspects of their roles, from data analysis, to instrument design, to report writing and presentation
  • Present project findings and outcomes at high level conferences and funder environments, as well as in formal and informal project meetings
Qualifications: 
  • A PhD in education, information or library science, organizational learning or other related social science fields 
  • Minimum of 5 years academic research experience 
  • Minimum of 3 years’ project management experience and the ability to design and implement integrated project plans , as well as on-time deliverables
  • Proven ability to plan and execute resourcefully multiple projects simultaneously, and work effectively in a fast-paced, fluid environment 
  • Excellent writing and editing abilities, and critical thinking skills 
  • Solid expertise within a Web 2.0 environment 
  • Familiarity with the education sector and an understanding of current education and learning-related issues 
  • Experience in direct oversight and mentoring of researchers and other outside contractors
  • Ability to step in on projects that are already underway, and proven ability to seek out needed information necessary to complete tasks
  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills, and the ability to speak effectively with client teams, senior project stakeholders, and funders 
  • The ability to thrive in a collaborative problem-solving environment while also working independently, juggling multiple priorities and deadlines, and accomplishing tasks on time 
  • Exemplary interpersonal skills 
  • The ability to turn complex information into visual formats using web-based or other digital tools is a plus
