OER Commons: How Web 2.0 Builds Collaboration into Open Teaching and Learning Resources

Presenter
Cynthia Jimes

Abstract
This session will present Open Educational Resources (OER) Commons, an online resource that facilitates the use and re-use of freely available, open educational content through the implementation of web 2.0 social networking features. Through a description of OER Commons’ features that aim to inspire use, re-use and community by allowing users to rate, review, tag, discuss, and submit OER in a collaborative web-based environment, this session will help to open up the discussion on how open educational repositories and collections more generally can expand access to and incite participation in the development of educational resources.
