Innovative green design meets K-12 learning: Artist and inventor, Paul Giacomantonio created the Sun Curve, a sculptural experimental laboratory, combining hydroponic agriculture, aquaculture, and solar energy in a self-contained system. ISKME, OER Commons’ creator, is launching an open-source curriculum project, the Sun Curve Design Challenge, as part of its efforts to recast teachers and students as makers and inventors using scientific inquiry into sustainability issues.
More information about the project is on the OER Commons wiki.
On May 29th, at the San Mateo Fairgrounds, teachers and students will visit the Maker Faire for a special tour. On May 30-31, an expected crowd of 80,000 visitors will descend upon the makers of everything imaginable. Visit the OER Commons booth to see the Sun Curve and participate in our two-day science lab and design studio to develop high-quality K-12 curriculum focusing on sustainable practices, design thinking, and collaboration.
