"Online and In the Know"
ISKME joins Teaching Artists Organized in the:
THIRD ANNUAL TEACHING ARTISTS INSTITUTE 2009-2010
The annual Teaching Artist Institute 2009 includes 3 workshops on three separate Saturdays!
A
half-day workshop (includes breakfast snacks) with hands on
exploration: discover and mine rich sites such as Library of Congress and National Endowment for the Humanities.
Megan Simmons of ISKME will introduce teaching artist participants to Open Educational Resources and integrating concepts of open content and collaboration in order to develop and document creative, project-based learning activities that teachers and teaching artists can then use in the classroom, and share with others online to support each others' teaching practices. A guest teaching artist will also facilitate.
This interactive, hands-on workshop will engage participants in finding, using, and modifying high-quality, free, and freely available online resources. Participants will reflect on their own processes and experience how Open Educational Resources (OER) can impact their teaching, using OER Commons (www.oercommons.org) and web-based collaboration tools, such as wikis and nings. Web resources from such services as the National Endowment for the Humanities, Library of Congress, Lincoln Center Institute, Kennedy Center’s ArtsEdge, and other arts-rich, education based sites.
Fee: $35 for TAO Associates/$15 if you already attended TAO’s Oct 3rd half-day business workshop for teaching artists.
