Community Manager

ISKME is hiring a part-time Community Manager to serve an online community of state and district education leaders collaborating to build knowledge and use of open educational resources and practice to transform teaching and learning.

The Community Manager will be responsible for the following:

  • Develop user guidelines to support effective community of practice engagement
  • Implement outreach processes to encourage stakeholders to join and engage virtually, and occasionally face-to-face.
  • Monitor and support effective use of online collaboration
  • Facilitate community of practice engagement with stakeholders by prompting and supporting them to lead and post in web-based discussion forums, groups, and to submit resources and other content
  • Review user-created and user-submitted content for appropriate meta-tagging and follow-up engagement
  • Collaborate with project team on developing site awareness campaigns: build enewsletter subscriptions, contributions, and readership; track and post on social media; scan and suggest opportunities  for conference presentations and webinars
  • Monitor and respond to inquiries and feedback from website visitors
  • Aggregate suggested features and reported bugs for ongoing improvement of the site

The ideal applicant will have:

  • Knowledge of and hands-on experience with open educational resource (OER) implementation as well as the K-12 education environment;
  • Prior experience with online facilitation of groups, communities, or courses of study;
  • Working knowledge of metadata and library or information science, a plus;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Ability to work collaboratively and virtually with project team and education stakeholders
  • Ability to be punctual and maintain an agreed upon timelines and schedule;
  • Ability to work independently on tasks
