Technical Project Manager

ISKME is an independent, education nonprofit whose mission is to improve the practice of continuous learning, collaboration, and change in the education sector, with the goal of democratizing access to education for all.

The person in this position will focus on project management of feature development and feature roll outs to ISKME’s open library platform and various branches of the platform. This includes, but is not limited to writing Jira tickets and testing or managing a QA team to review new features, coordinating with other team members and taking into account ISKME’s OER service partners’ needs. This will also include leading project management on grant-funded projects that include tracking research, technical development, managing external stakeholders, and pilot implementations. The ideal candidate will have experience with agile research and product development teams. This position will report to the Director of OER Services, and work closely with the Product Owner to manage priorities and milestones on a day to day basis.  

Responsibilities

  • Developing and maintaining project plans and associated documentation
  • Facilitating communication and collaboration between project team and external stakeholders.
  • Creating and maintaining resource allocation tracking documentation, and ensuring the Product Owner and Director of OER Services are informed of at-risk line items
  • Keep projects on track by setting milestones, and tracking tasks and deliverables against milestones dates.
  • Supporting Team Members in ensuring scope and/or resources are adjusted to meet milestones 
  • Remove impediments to project momentum to ensure tasks, deliverables, and milestones are completed on schedule
  • Participating in ISKME team wide agile ceremonies, such as backlog refinement, milestone retrospectives, and sprint planning to ensure product development and design tickets are completed within project timelines

Required Skills

  • 3-5 years experience managing software or web development projects, including managing direct communication with engineering teams
  • 3-5 years demonstrated experience working within product development teams and participating in/leading sprint planning and backlog refinement
  • Solid experience using Confluence, JIRA, and Smartsheet for maintaining project planning and product development documentation
  • Strong strategic thinking skills, with the ability to anticipate and collaboratively remediate blockers. 
  • Comfort working in a fast paced environment with shifting priorities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with instructional design, instructional technology support, or general digital library services
  • Experience working with Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) protocols 
  • Experience working with SAML-based SSO protocols
  • Masters Degree in Information Science, or related field
  • Experience managing agile projects with external deadlines and stakeholders
