Basic needs insecurity is a substantial problem that has long affected thousands of students. Alongside the rising cost of tuition, students’ weak safety net, and lack of adequate legislation, urgent challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic have further exacerbated students’ food, housing, and other insecurities.
In collaboration with the Hope Center for College, Community and Justice and Believe in Students, this project sought to develop two practical toolkits. The toolkits seek to foster new strategies and ideas as campuses work better integrate their internal and external support system to enable more coordinated, student-centered practices for addressing food, housing, transportation, and other needs.
The two toolkits developed through the project include:
-
Systems Integration Planning Toolkit: Guiding Systems Change to Address Campus Basic Needs Insecurity
-
Building Community Connections: Guiding the Development of Strategic Alliances to Address Campus Basic Needs Insecurity
