ISKME is hiring a part-time user experience designer to develop user interaction flows and designs for an educational digital library platform. This position will be onboarded as a part time 6 month contractor role, with the possibility of renewal or full hire at the end of the contract period.

This position will work as part of a cross functional team, and should be comfortable conceptualizing and building UX designs utilizing qualitative research data, customer feedback, and platform analytics. We are a small team that utilizes an agile scrum framework for research, design, and development. The contractor should be comfortable working across multiple projects in a fast paced environment, communicating and collaborating with engineering, product management, and research.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Responsible for designing UX flows based on user feedback and product and feature requirements
  • Responsible for delivering and iterating on UX design assets at all stages of the design process from low fi wireframes to high fi prototypes that are ready for development
  • Actively contributes to Backlog Refinement with Product Owner and Architect to align UX design work with business goals, user goals and technology constraints.
  • Responsible for understanding the customer goals based on personas
  • Responsible for developing and documenting style guides and other design best practices, including accessibility
  • Responsible for graphic design requests such as cropping images, recoloring images, creating graphics, defining image sizing/proportions

Skills/Qualifications

  • 3-5 years experience working in UX Design or Development
  • Associates Degree or other certificate of completion for UX/design focused program
  • Demonstrated ability to create UX workflows and visual designs from product requirements or research documents
  • Experience working with agile/scrum teams
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with both technical and business oriented stakeholders
  • Basic proficiency in HTML and CSS (familiarity with React/other frontend frameworks a strong plus)

Compensation: $40-$50/hr based on experience/qualifications
